Biography                  A little about us ...............

Chantal

Just a little Chantal history. It all began…

I was just about 4 years old when my family got their very first dog, Smoky. Even if I didn't understand much about training or behaviour at the time, I was right away fascinated and in love. Smoky lived with us for about 3 years, when we had to move and unfortunately he could not come with us. It was another 12 years before I purchased my very first dog, an 18 months old Beauceron, named Spiros. From then on I was always involved with dogs and always had them around me.

My passion to train and be involved with dogs grew steadily and I found myself very involved with many different canine clubs in France and Switzerland. However, my very busy career didn't allow me to do more than train my own dogs. I did this training with a lot of passion but unfortunately most of my dogs were rescues and not suited for competition.

It was when my career became too invading in my personal life that I finally decided to make a big change and in 1997 I moved to Calgary. During the next 2 years I explored the many different avenues available to me in working and training dogs. It was then that I finally decided to go to the Arizona Canine Academy in Sierra Vista to refine my training knowledge. It was a fantastic experience and I had the great honour of learning and working with the renowned trainer, Rocky Boatman.

After completing my training and becoming a certified Trainer & Animal Behaviourist I started my own company, Domtom Dog Services Inc.  This small business is dedicated to canine fanciers and offers pet sitting, training, and animal behaviour evaluations. More information and details about Domtom Dog Services Inc. can be located here.

However, life was still not complete so I began looking for a Canine companion.  In 1999, I had the wonderful opportunity to purchase my first registered Doberman Pinscher, the puppy of my dreams. Dana (Ch. Royolyn Warrior’s Page) not only turned out to be the great show dog that I always wanted but she has also proven to be a great producer as well. In 2002 with the help and guidance of Carolyn Irvine of Royolyn Dobermans, Dana had her first litter.  All seven puppies were raised in my home and it was a fantastic and great learning experience. Following that breeding Dana was rewarded Dam of the Year 2003 by the Doberman Pinscher Club of Canada as well as by the Alberta Doberman Pinscher Club.

2005 was a great year, Willow came into our house and was right accepted by the rest of the family. I also planed my second breeding of Doberman Pinscher. This litter was in collaboration with my good friends,  Bonnie Green of Trymine Dobermans and Dominique Boillat.  We bred Zoé (Ch. Trymine’s Fashion Designer) to Zzzzzaaron (Int/UDC/Can Ch. Wittrocks Zzzzzaaron CD,AD,B,T2,CGC,ATT,VCX,WAC, SCH III). We had 8 puppies and they are all now adult and very active in different canine sports. Mostly obedience, Agility, Rally O and some Schutzhund. The 3 girls and one of the male did get their Canadian Conformation championship without problem. The rest of the family never hit the conformation ring, so we are proud to say that this litter was a great success! All the "puppies"  enjoy a good life in their new respective families and we are very proud of all of them.

In 2006, Zoé was rewarded Dam of the Year by the Alberta Doberman Pinscher Club.

2007 is the year of changes, after 10 years in Alberta I moved to Ontario in June and I am now settling in Hamilton with my dogs.

2008 was a very sad year as I lost my best friend Dana. She was the dog I always wanted and dreamed about. She was beautiful, always happy and strong minded. She loved all the dogs and people that came into my house and as the true doberman she was my protector and the joy of my life. She fought for many years with bad health but never complained. I love all of my dogs, but she will remain that special girl that happen only once in a lifetime.

My plans for the future include moving my business  (Domtom Dog Services Inc.) to Hamilton. As an animal behaviourist, I will continue to offer my services to the novice and more experienced pet owners. As a pet sitter/dog walker I will enjoy going around with new friends :).

I will also remain active and in good standing with the following Associations:

Canadian Kennel Club –  Doberman Pinscher Club of Canada –  Saluki Club of Canada – Canadian Association of Professional Pet Dog Trainers – All Canadian Pet sitter Network
